I went on a trip to Berlin.
It was my third time visiting. This time, four of my friends were already there, and I basically joined their trip midway. I haven’t been to any other cities in Germany, so I can’t really compare, but I do like Berlin. There’s something a bit decadent about it, not overly touristy, yet full of small shops. And unlike London, it’s not all brick buildings everywhere.
Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but all three times I’ve gone, the weather has been great. I love the way the buildings and trees look when they’re lit by the sun.

This time, I went to a major art museum for the first time: Hamburger Bahnhof, a museum of contemporary art.
In Europe, many museums are donation-based and essentially free, but this one was €16. At first I thought, “Oh, we really have to pay,” but once I went inside, I understood why. It was packed with large-scale works, installations, and performance-based pieces. I kept getting excited wondering what would be in the next room. It had been a while since a museum made me feel that way.
Even though the five of us friends entered together, within three minutes I couldn’t find anyone—everyone must have been completely absorbed.

I’m generally not very interested in food, and I’m not the type who wants to try lots of local dishes when traveling. So I just went into whatever restaurant I happened to see whenever I got hungry.
But the mysterious meatball-like dish I had at a German place we happened to enter for lunch was surprisingly good.

I’ve only got about six months left in London. Time to visit all the places I still want to see!

Hamburger Bhf.
